Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Worker to join our team at Extendicare Canada Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing routine maintenance tasks, repairs, and upkeep of our facilities to ensure a safe and healthy environment for our residents and staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance checks and repairs on equipment, machinery, and facilities
  • Assist in the maintenance of adequate inventory of maintenance supplies, tools, and spare parts
  • Carry out necessary grounds work, including lawn mowing, watering, and snow removal
  • Perform janitorial responsibilities, including garbage removal and cleaning
  • Make general building repairs, such as touch-up plastering and painting
  • Assist other departments in moving furniture, equipment, and supplies
  • Participate in evaluating care and services provided by the Maintenance Department
  • Perform all duties in accordance with the written policies and procedures of Extendicare, the facility, trade/CSA legislation, and the Maintenance Department

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years building maintenance experience, preferably in an institutional setting
  • Technical competencies related to electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and HVAC
  • Class 5 Power Engineer Certificate would be an asset
  • Ability to read and write English and understand verbal and written instructions in English
  • Mentally and physically able to perform duties as outlined
  • Valid driver's license required and ability to be on-call after hours

Working Conditions

The successful candidate will work in a dynamic environment and be required to maintain regular attendance. The position requires the ability to work independently with minimal supervision and complete assignments in a timely manner.
