About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Strategic Transactions Director to join our team at Scotiabank. As a key member of our Corporate Development group, you will play a critical role in driving the bank's strategic growth and expansion through mergers and acquisitions, partnerships, and other corporate development initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead M&A and Corporate Development Initiatives: Develop and execute strategic plans to identify, evaluate, and pursue acquisition and divestiture opportunities that align with the bank's corporate objectives.
  • Manage Cross-Functional Teams: Lead and manage cross-functional teams to analyze and evaluate complex business opportunities, develop financial models, and conduct due diligence.
  • Develop and Present Strategic Recommendations: Develop and present strategic recommendations to senior management and the Board of Directors on M&A and corporate development opportunities.
  • Build and Maintain Relationships: Foster and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including business lines, functional areas, and external partners.
  • Ensure Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all corporate development activities are conducted in compliance with relevant regulations and internal policies.
Requirements
  • 7+ Years of Experience: Minimum 7 years of experience in M&A, financial modeling, valuation, consulting, or other relevant fields.
  • Progressive Experience: 5+ years of progressive experience in managing large, complex projects or functions in corporate management portfolios.
  • Fluency in Spanish: Fluency in Spanish is required.
  • Education and Certifications: Undergraduate or postgraduate education in business or related fields, with a focus on finance, accounting, economics, and other relevant subjects. Professional designations such as CA, CMA, CPA, or CFA are a strong asset.
