Aquatics Director

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Aquatics and Family Programs Director to join our team at the Markham YMCA Health and Fitness Centre. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for the daily operation of the pool, including leadership of program excellence, ensuring compliance with health and safety protocols, and overseeing the Aquatics Staff Team.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop, promote, and implement all aquatics programs offered by the HFR facility.
- Develop and monitor departmental budget and maintain accountability, responsibility, and control for the departmental fiscal goals.
- Conduct internal audits and ensure staff team and department are in compliance with regards to qualifications, trainings, safety and emergency procedures, operational procedures, lifeguard stations and rotations, uniforms and equipment, administration, and quality of service.
- Ensure that department staff are provided with appropriate orientation and training, and conduct WHMIS training.
- Teach and/or provide support to instructors who teach Bronze Star, Junior Lifeguard Club, Senior Lifeguard Club, Bronze Medallion, Bronze Cross, and RRS programs.
- Provide leadership to children and youth programs, establish rapport, and maintain effective relationship-building behaviors with staff and members.
- Represent the YMCA and the Association in a professional manner.
- Diploma or degree in Recreation Leadership, Kinesiology, Physical Education, or related field.
- WHMIS training and Pool Operator's certification preferred.
- Well-developed interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to speak multiple languages an asset.
- Excellent time management, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
- Computer skills and willingness to learn new computer programs.
