Key Responsibilities:

As a Senior Policy Consultant, your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and coordinating the analysis and development of policies aligned with the Ministry's legislative framework, business objectives, and programs;
  • Facilitating the creation and execution of strategic policy initiatives, legislation, and governance related to the government's realty portfolio;
  • Providing expert advice to senior management within the ministry, as well as to other ministries and agencies regarding the government's realty portfolio;
  • Conducting comprehensive reviews of policies and programs, performing research and analysis, and assessing the financial, social, and economic implications of current and proposed policies;
  • Preparing presentations, recommendations, reports, and documents for senior management, including the Deputy Minister and Minister;
  • Building and maintaining relationships with various Ministry divisions, other ministries, key stakeholders, and partners;
  • Representing the Ministry on inter-ministerial committees and task forces.
Qualifications:Policy Development and Technical Expertise:
  • In-depth knowledge of government structures, business planning, policy development, and decision-making processes;
  • Understanding of public administration to facilitate the policy and legislative development process, perform impact analyses on the Ministry's programs, and formulate actionable recommendations;
  • Experience in leading and facilitating policy and legislative development projects, as well as creating policy options and initiatives.
Communication and Interpersonal Skills:
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to articulate ideas clearly and concisely;
  • Experience in drafting Cabinet submissions, reports, analyses, recommendations, and correspondence;
  • Proficiency in developing legislative, policy, and program proposals for senior management and policy committees;
  • Strong judgment and insight in prioritizing and addressing strategic considerations in analyses and recommendations;
  • Adept at cultivating strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, anticipating potential challenges, and devising effective mitigation strategies.
Analytical and Risk Management Skills:
  • Ability to analyze statistical data, conduct environmental assessments, and evaluate the impacts of legislation and policies on programs;
  • Knowledge of risk assessment and management principles to evaluate and enhance proposed policy and program options.
Project Management Proficiency:
  • Skilled in project management, capable of effectively planning and leading projects, coordinating team activities, and managing competing priorities;
  • Competence in developing work plans, monitoring deliverables, and ensuring adherence to timelines and quality standards.
