Agricultural Service Supervisor

Brandt is seeking a highly skilled individual with a robust background in agriculture to take on the role of Service Operations Foreman within our service department.

The Service Operations Foreman plays a critical role in overseeing the Service Department, ensuring that both quality standards and productivity benchmarks are achieved in line with our Service Optimization protocols. This position also entails acting as the Service Manager in their absence, providing customers with accurate quotes and estimates, reviewing work orders, directing the closure of work orders, and managing payment collection processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitates the allocation of tasks and work orders to Service Department personnel based on their expertise and experience.
  • Participates in the evaluation of incoming repair orders and may engage in hands-on repairs. Ensures repair orders are accurate and complete, while remaining updated on job progress.
  • Serves as a primary contact for technicians regarding equipment repair inquiries and updates.
  • Guides and assists technicians and apprentices in diagnosing machine issues.
  • Conducts inspections and repairs on specialized tools, recommending new tools as necessary.
  • Informs the Service Manager or Service Location Manager of any customer grievances.
  • Organizes and schedules in-house training for technicians.
  • Assists in coordinating and leading quarterly safety meetings alongside the Service Manager or Service Location Manager.
  • Supports Service Advisors by addressing technical queries from customers.
  • Promotes safe workplace practices and proper equipment operation.
  • Maintains a clean and safe working environment through good housekeeping practices.
  • May assume the role of Service Manager or Service Location Manager in their absence.
  • May assist in the refurbishment of used equipment and the setup of new machinery.
  • May authorize the release of equipment for customer delivery.
  • May provide performance feedback and disciplinary recommendations for service technicians and staff to the Service Manager or Service Location Manager.
  • Engages in billing activities for approximately 50% of available time.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

  • Proven ability to lead and mentor team members.
  • Proficient in standard desktop applications, including Microsoft Office and internet functionalities.
  • Exceptional negotiation, conflict resolution, decision-making, and delegation skills.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making capabilities.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills for diverse audiences.
  • Basic understanding of financial principles related to service department operations.

Required Experience

  • A minimum of 3 years' experience as a Service Technician; Journeyman certification is preferred.
  • Experience in diagnosing hydraulic and electrical issues on agricultural machinery is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Brandt and competitive agricultural products.
  • A forklift license is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and coach others.
  • Proficient in standard desktop applications, including Microsoft Office and internet functionalities.
  • Strong negotiation, conflict resolution, decision-making, and delegation skills.
  • Excellent decision-making abilities.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills for diverse audiences.
  • Basic understanding of financial principles related to service department operations.
