Equinox Gold is a growth-focused Canadian mining company with eight operating gold mines, and a clear path to achieve more than one million ounces of annual gold production from a pipeline of development and expansion projects.

This role plays a key part in the timely and accurate preparation of the Company's monthly financial statements and quarterly financial reports. The Financial Reporting Director will support Site finance teams across multiple jurisdictions on operational and complex accounting matters and provide technical accounting expertise to ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead the preparation and review of the quarterly and annual Management Discussion and Analysis (MD&A) in compliance with regulatory standards.
  2. Assist in the preparation and review of quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements and notes in compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
  3. Prepare various quarterly reports for the Board of Directors and other senior executives.
  4. Partner with the Corporate Controller, coordinate activities with external auditors during quarterly reviews and annual audits.
  5. Ensure accuracy and consistency in financial reporting across all operating sites.
  6. Document and ensure compliance with SOX controls related to the internal and external financial reporting for the position's area of responsibility.

Support to Site Finance Teams:

  1. Manage the review of operating site monthly financial packages to ensure compliance with IFRS; perform variance analysis to assess performance and assist in decision making.
  2. Act as a key resource and advisor to site finance teams on accounting issues, providing training and guidance as needed.
  3. Assist site teams in understanding and implementing new accounting standards and policies.
  4. Work closely with Site teams to resolve complex accounting issues and ensure consistent application of accounting policies across all operations.

Technical Accounting & Policy:

  1. Research, analyze, and draft technical accounting memos and documentation to support the company's accounting positions and policy decisions.
  2. Develop and implement standardized accounting policies and procedures across all jurisdictions to ensure uniformity and compliance.

ESG and ESTMA Reporting:

  1. Collaborate with ESG and finance teams to collect, analyze, and report financial metrics related to ESG initiatives and for the purposes of ESTMA reporting.
  2. Work with IT and Site finance teams to develop processes and controls to track and report ESG and ESTMA related financial data, ensuring accuracy and completeness.

Requirements:

  1. University degree in Accounting or other business-related field, CPA, CA designation required.
  2. Minimum 8-10 years of experience, preferably with a high-growth, multi-jurisdictional public company or a Big 4 accounting firm.
  3. Minimum three years of supervisory experience.
  4. Experience in the mining or natural resources industry is highly desirable.
  5. Superior level knowledge and understanding of IFRS and public company accounting requirements; strong understanding of SOX legislation and internal controls over financial reporting, including PCAOB requirements.
  6. Experience with OneStream and SAP is desirable.
  7. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and research skills.
  8. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to clearly explain complex accounting issues to key stakeholders and decision makers.
  9. Attention to detail, with exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  10. Excellent Excel skills; expertise with financial systems and report writing; experience in accounting system implementations is an asset.
  11. A self-starter and team player with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build partnerships across the organization and motivate teams when working with all business units and operations.
  12. Willingness to travel to company sites as needed.
  13. High ethical standards and a commitment to integrity in financial reporting.

Salary Range: $175,000.00 to $220,000.00
