Social Worker Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Social Worker to join our team at the Cree Board of Health and Social Services of James Bay (CBHSSJB). As a Social Worker, you will play a vital role in designing, implementing, and evaluating social programs that promote the well-being of our community.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement social programs that address the needs of our community, including counseling, guidance, and support services.
  • Conduct assessments and analyses to identify client needs and develop effective solutions.
  • Collaborate with community members, organizations, and stakeholders to promote social change and improve the quality of life for our community.
  • Provide education and training to community members on social issues and health promotion.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community members, organizations, and stakeholders to ensure effective program delivery.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or a related field.
  • Member in good standing of the Ordre professionnel des travailleurs sociaux et des thérapeutes conjugaux et familiaux du Québec (OTSTCFQ).
  • Two (2) years of relevant experience in social work.
  • Knowledge of Cree culture, social/health issues, and Eenou/Eeyou Pimaatsiiun healing practices and paradigms is an asset.
  • Fluent in English; fluency in Cree or French is an asset.
Working Conditions:

This position includes psychosocial on-calls.
