Key Responsibilities: The branch operates water treatment facilities in unincorporated communities and oversees nine wastewater treatment plants. Additionally, it manages solid waste facilities, supports recycling initiatives, and supervises recycling processors throughout the territory.

Role of the Director: The Director of Operations and Programs is accountable for the planning, evaluation, and direction of sustainable municipal-type services for unincorporated Yukon communities. This position is pivotal in establishing sustainable service levels aligned with budgets and standards while overseeing the implementation of safe potable water systems, wastewater management, solid waste facilities, recycling programs, street lighting, walking bridges, and mosquito control initiatives.

Services are delivered through a combination of direct and indirect Yukon Government employees, consultants, contractors, and agreements with First Nations, municipalities, local governments, or non-profit organizations.
