About the Role

Aecon Group Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Tunnel Superintendent to join our team. As a key member of our tunnel construction team, you will be responsible for overseeing the safe and efficient execution of tunnel construction projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Management: Oversee the tunnel crew, determining tasks, directing work, and ensuring compliance with safety protocols and procedures.
  • Safety Leadership: Promote a Safety-First culture, lead safety meetings, and conduct inspections to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Team Management: Coordinate and supervise subordinate foremen, providing guidance and support to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Quality Control: Monitor work performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions to ensure high-quality results.
  • Communication: Collaborate with the Deputy Tunnel Manager/Construction Manager to identify resource requirements, assess daily goals, and ensure project schedules and budgets are met.
  • Employee Relations: Foster a positive and inclusive work environment, promoting employee engagement and adherence to company policies.
Requirements
  • Education: Secondary School or equivalent, with practical training, classroom, or simulation experience.
  • Work Experience: 2-3 years of experience in tunneling, with a strong background in SEM/NATM techniques, drill & blast techniques, and Tunnel Boring Machine operations.
  • Skills: Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
