We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Tunnel Foreman to join our team at Aecon Group Inc. as a key member of our underground construction operations.
The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the safe and efficient operation of our tunnel boring machines, ensuring that all work is completed to the highest standards and within budget.
Key Responsibilities- Drive quality, efficiency, and productivity of work crews, and document reporting of and maintaining in good repair all company-owned and rented tools, equipment, and assets.
- Responsible for scheduling, coordinating, and supervising the work of all site operatives, ensuring that all work is delivered safely on time and within budget, along with managing equipment and materials required.
- Accurately record and communicate the hours worked and operational issues.
- Operate and promote safe working on site.
- Ensure all works are carried out in line with approved method statements.
- Conduct and amend risk assessments and deliver toolbox talks/briefings.
- Ensure site personnel have job-relevant training requirements, which is entered on site personnel training register.
- Lead by example to others on site.
- Ensure workers complete all required documentation.
- Track and document daily work productions.
- Equipment and materials management.
- Assist the TBM Superintendent in promoting communication throughout the tunnel team.
- Responsible for supervising TBM Operators who maintain the line and grade of the tunnel according to the tunnelling guidance system.
- Ensure TBM operators maintain the designed parameters of the TBM, face pressures, and operate within manufacturers' guidelines and approved methods.
- Responsible for supervising the erector operator who will erect segmental lining according to the building tolerance specified in the contract.
- Responsible for implementing the annular grouting procedure behind the segmental lining. Secondary grouting as required.
- Secondary School or equivalent;
- Practical training, classroom, or simulation; and
- Working knowledge of English.
- Familiarity with OSHA and aware of the meaning of 'Supervisor' under OSHA;
- MOL's required basic supervisory safety awareness training;
- 2-3 years' experience with Tunnel Boring Machine operations.
- 2-3 years' experience with Slurry TBM.
- 2-3 years' experience in tunneling with concrete segment lining, 6.0 m. diameter.
- 2-3 years' experience with Herrenknecht equipment.
We offer a competitive hourly rate of $53 per hour, with shift workers receiving a shift premium in addition to their regular hourly rate. Employees/Tunnel Foremen will be required to become members of Labourers International Union of North America, Local 183. (Monthly Membership Dues are $35.00 and Working Dues are 3% of Gross earnings)
Employees/Members of Local 183 receive Vacation & Statutory Holiday Pay, Health & Welfare Benefits, Pension, etc. for a Total Wage Package of $76.55 per hour (not including Supervisor Premium)
Working Conditions and EnvironmentPrimary work location at a construction site with work and travel required throughout the region.
Project, training, and business-related travel may be required.
Exposure to construction work site environment in all seasons.
Relocation within the region may be required. Relocation costs covered by employer.
