POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Supervises the qualification assessments for tamper operators.
  • Manages mentors assigned to support the qualification process for tamper operators.
  • Organizes and delivers on-site training for tamper operators, which includes reviewing Field Guides, Operator's Manuals, Preventive Maintenance Guides, and Lock-out Tag-out procedures.
  • Designs and executes classroom training programs for operators.
  • Provides instruction and support to equipment operators across the designated geographic area.
  • Collaborates with the Technical Training group to coordinate additional training for tamper operators.
  • Arranges vendor-provided operation and maintenance training sessions.
  • Identifies and contributes to the development and implementation of innovative training initiatives.
  • Ensures that training and qualification records are maintained to confirm that all tamper operators are qualified prior to position assignments through the Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Investigates any failures or damages to machinery or equipment as necessary and recommends corrective actions, including the disqualification of tamper operators when needed.
  • Leads the process for awarding bulletins for Production, including the allocation of machine operator positions.
  • Ensures adherence to safe practices as recommended by equipment manufacturers and/or regulatory guidelines.
  • Administers the collective agreement within all areas of responsibility.
  • Participates in staffing processes, including onboarding new hires.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or equivalent GED.
  • A minimum of ten years of experience in Production Crews, with at least five years in Group 1 or Special Group Machine Operator roles.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of engineering field operations and production teams.
  • Familiarity with tamping equipment operation and safety protocols.
  • CROR qualification is required.
  • Understanding of Collective Bargaining Agreements related to qualification and disqualification processes.
  • This position requires extensive travel.
  • Proficient computer skills are essential.
  • Demonstrated organizational and leadership abilities.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
