POSITION OVERVIEW

At Black & McDonald Limited, our Mechanical & Electrical ICI division is expanding. We are seeking a dedicated and collaborative professional who is eager to contribute to a dynamic and innovative team.

The Electrical Estimator role is based in Scarborough and typically reports to the Chief Estimator. This position encompasses all facets of cost estimation, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures throughout the estimating process. The Estimator will also engage with clients to secure ongoing work opportunities and collaborate with suppliers to maintain industry competitiveness. Key responsibilities include:

  • Generating estimates for anticipated costs of materials, labor, and equipment for construction projects, utilizing contract bids, quotations, schematic drawings, and specifications.
  • Providing guidance on tendering processes, reviewing and analyzing tenders, and recommending award decisions.
  • Participating in site assessments, tender evaluations, project hand-offs, and operational meetings.
  • Maintaining a comprehensive directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors.
  • Engaging in consultation and communication with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND

  • Completion of an electrical estimating or construction program.
  • Extensive experience in the electrical construction industry.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • A minimum of 10 years' experience in estimating electrical ICI construction projects, with a preference for P3 project experience.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Demonstrated proficiency in:

  • Finalizing estimates
  • Interpreting electrical project designs
  • Construction scheduling, planning, and execution
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Exceptional communication abilities
  • Self-motivation and ability to meet deadlines

Advanced proficiency in:

  • MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Project)
  • Accubid software
