About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Business Group Leader to lead our established Ontario Region business.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record in managing landfill operations, with a strong focus on commercial performance, safety, and environmental compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the Landfill Business Group commercial performance
  • Manage the operations and construction work at the Landfill
  • Execute safety meetings, observations, and coaching to ensure safety is at the forefront of all activities
  • Formulate short and long-term goals and action plans to optimize the landfill, services, and environmental compliance
  • Provide input and manage Business Group performance, people, and resource requirements
  • Financial reviews of project, including annual budgeting process
  • Provide leadership to the Business Group in line with GHD's core values and objectives

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years experience as an Operations manager directly responsible for the supervision, coordination, and management of operations on a landfill site managing greater than 400,000 tonnes MSW waste per year or equivalent
  • Experience in the methods and techniques of integrated solid waste management systems
  • Knowledge of provincial and federal regulations related to waste management systems
  • Preference for possession of a Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) Manager of Landfill Operations (MOLO) certification
  • Ability to develop lasting client relationships based on trust and delivery excellence
  • Ability to mentor and train team members
