Job Title: Communications and Office Administrator

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Communications and Office Administrator to join our team at The United Church of Canada. This is a permanent full-time position, working 35 hours per week.

About the Role

The Communications and Office Administrator will provide administrative support to the Regional Minister for Fundy St. Lawrence Dawning Waters and Bermuda-Nova Scotia Regional Councils, as well as shared administrative support for the Minister for Justice, Mission, and Outreach and the Minister for Youth and Young Adults. The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Overseeing daily communication in the Regional Councils, including maintaining and updating the Regional Directory, organizing weekly announcements, and circulating monthly newsletters.
  • Providing administrative support for meetings, including compiling materials, biographies, and reports, and preparing name tags.
  • Assisting with financial matters, such as paying bills and updating incorporated ministries contact files.
  • Supporting the office administration work of the Region, including coordinating bookings for the office board room and other meeting logistics.
Qualifications

We are looking for a candidate with:

  • Post-secondary education in Business Administration or equivalent.
  • 2-3 years of experience in an administrative role, preferably in a not-for-profit setting.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Office 365, Dynamics, Adobe, SharePoint, One Drive, Teams, Zoom, and other social media and online platforms.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a commitment to collaboration and a flexible approach to changing situations.
Working Conditions

The successful candidate will work from the Regional Council Office located in Sackville, NB, with flexibility for some work from home when needed. The position requires sitting and viewing a computer screen for long periods, keyboarding/using voice recognition software, and intermittent physical activity.

Compensation

The target hiring range for this position is $41,548 to $47,353, with the ability to progress to a maximum of $44,397. This is based on category 2 on our salary range. Placement on the salary range will be based on factors such as market condition, internal equity, candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role. Pension and group benefit plans coverage and annual vacation round out this compensation package.
