Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Director of Production Operations to join our team at Thermo Fisher Scientific. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for overseeing the production operations and ensuring that all manufacturing commitments and deliveries are met on time.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Planning: Develop and manage strategic plans for capacity, efficiency, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Production Management: Supervise, coordinate, and direct daily production activities in alignment with site and corporate KPIs.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Represent the Production department during regulatory and safety audits, as well as client visits.
  • Technical Support: Support and offer advice on technical-related issues.
  • Problem-Solving: Troubleshoot problems and initiate investigations.
  • Team Leadership: Establish and maintain productive working relationships with subordinates, upper management, and other departments.
  • Procedure Development: Support the development and implementation of departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and procedures.
  • Validation and Qualification: Provide support in validation and qualification of product, equipment, and utilities.
  • Regulatory Standards: Ensure products are manufactured in compliance with Health Canada, FDA, or other global regulatory standards.
  • Staff Development: Develop staff to ensure a well-motivated, versatile, and fully trained department.
  • Reporting and Budgeting: Prepare monthly departmental reports and contribute to budget and capital expenditure preparations.
  • Safety and Environment: Promote a safe working environment, report potential hazards, and ensure all direct reports follow Environmental Health and Safety procedures.
Requirements
  • Education: Minimum Bachelor's degree in Science or Chemical Engineering and/or Business required.
  • Experience: Minimum 10 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, with a minimum of 5 years of experience managing direct reports.
  • Equivalency: Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant work experience may be considered.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Exceptional Good Manufacturing Practices knowledge, demonstrated decision-making capabilities, proven ability to coach and develop staff, strong leadership, team building, and conflict resolution skills, and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
