Position: Transitional Housing Support Specialist (Casual, On-Call)

FACILITY:

The Transitional Housing Support Specialist will engage with residents in various aspects of personal development, life skills enhancement, and participation in social and spiritual activities, aiming to empower each resident to reach their fullest potential.


Administrative Responsibilities:

Responsibilities may vary based on assigned shifts. Key tasks include:

  • Answering phone calls and directing inquiries to the appropriate personnel.
  • Monitoring and supervising resident interactions during shifts.
  • Addressing resident questions in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Maintaining communication with The Salvation Army, local government, and community organizations to facilitate activities and resources for residents.
  • Responding to emergencies, including fire alarms and other urgent situations.

Additional qualifications include:

  • Completion of any formal post-secondary program in a related field is advantageous.
  • Training or certification in addictions and/or mental health, or a willingness to undergo training.
  • FOODSAFE Level 1 certification or a commitment to obtain it.
  • Proficiency in computer applications such as Word, Outlook, and Excel.

The role involves working within a residential facility, which includes navigating various areas of the building. Employees may encounter challenging conditions while fulfilling their duties.

Successful candidates must obtain clearance through the Criminal Record Review Act for working with vulnerable adults and through The Salvation Army Child Abuse Registry.


WORKING HOURS:
Availability for various shifts is required, including:
  • Overnight shifts (12:00 am - 8:00 am)
  • Weekends and statutory holidays
