Position Overview

The Field Service Generator Technician is responsible for executing preventative maintenance and performing basic repair tasks on generators or their components at customer locations with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducts preventative maintenance activities according to established schedules and standards for power generation equipment in the field.
  • Interacts with customers in a professional and courteous manner, ensuring their needs are met promptly and efficiently.
  • Utilizes specialized tools and adheres to documented procedures to diagnose and perform basic repairs, including the preparation of necessary parts and tools.
  • Escalates unresolved technical issues to more experienced technicians or supervisors for further assistance.
  • Completes required documentation, such as service worksheets and warranty claims, through handwritten forms or business system inputs.
  • Maintains service vehicle and tools, ensuring cleanliness and proper functioning.
  • Follows all relevant health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Apprentice Trained Power Generation/Electrical Technician (preferred).
  • Vocational diploma from a relevant technical institution.
  • Current relevant electrical certification.
  • Valid driving permit.
  • Licensing may be required for compliance with regulations.

Experience

  • Minimum workshop-related experience required.
  • Basic knowledge of power generation products.
  • Experience with high voltage and low voltage systems.

Educational Background

  • DEP in Diesel Mechanics.
  • Diploma in Electricity or Electromechanics is an asset.
  • Valid driver's license.

Work Experience

  • At least 3 years of experience in diesel mechanics.
  • Experience in frontline customer service.
  • Experience driving a company vehicle.
  • Instrumentation and control experience is a plus.
  • Experience with generators is an asset.
  • Proficiency in English is an advantage.
