About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Nutrition and Food Services Manager to join our team at Nova Scotia Health Authority. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, and controlling all aspects of operations and day-to-day management of Nutrition and Food Services within multiple sites of the Eastern Zone.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in nutrition and dietetics, with a proven track record of managing teams and leading initiatives. You will be responsible for championing the integration of nutrition care and food service, and for providing nutrition care services to patients, residents, and clients in both institutional, ambulatory, and community settings.

You will work closely with our Director, Nutrition and Food Services, to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of Nutrition and Food Services. You will also collaborate on provincial initiatives and standards, such as the implementation of the Nova Scotia Health Healthy Eating Policy at applicable sites.

About You

We are looking for a candidate who has the following qualifications and experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Nutrition and Dietetics
  • Completion of an accredited dietetic internship program
  • Membership in a professional association, Dietitians of Canada preferred
  • Completion of Advanced Food Safety Training
  • Five years' progressive management experience in healthcare as a dietitian, in addition to having clinically related practice experience
  • Experience in scope of practice for dietitians, dietetic technicians, and food service supervisors, and food service management
  • Ability to interpret statistical data, and monitor quality and performance indicators and benchmarks
  • Ability to build and maintain collaborative working relationships and partnerships
  • Extensive experience in financial planning and human resource management
  • Experience managing in a unionized environment
  • Knowledge of applicable legislation, regulations, policies, and standards
  • Competencies in other languages an asset; French preferred
Hours

This is a full-time long assignment, 75 hours biweekly. Travel to various sites may be required. The assignment is approximately for months, with dates subject to change.

Compensation and Incentives

The successful candidate will be offered a competitive salary of $40.15 - $53.35 per hour. Successful candidates may also be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
