Job Summary

The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Manager, Employee Relations to join our team. As a key member of our Human Resources department, you will play a critical role in planning, directing, and coordinating employee and labour relations activities to achieve established goals and objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the day-to-day guidance provided to all levels of TTC management, staff, and union employees on employment and Human Resources-related issues.
  • Support negotiations with the TTC's bargaining units, including developing strategic bargaining objectives, direction, and proposals.
  • Interpret existing Collective Agreements, Corporate Policies, and Operational procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Research and prepare labour relations studies and projects.
  • Plan, assign, and monitor work to ensure a high level of performance, quality, and service orientation.
Requirements
  • Completion of post-secondary education in Industrial Relations or a combination of education, training, and experience deemed to be equivalent.
  • Several years of related work experience in a unionized environment.
  • Previous supervisory experience is an asset.
  • B designation or Master's of Industrial Relations and experience in labour and employment law are definite assets.
  • Strong negotiation, mediation, and conciliation skills.
  • Well-developed investigative, organizational, time management, interpersonal, and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Computer literate with knowledge of related applications required to perform duties.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders, including disability accommodation and accessibility requirements.
