About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Translation Specialist to join our team at the Canadian Red Cross. As a key member of our Language Services department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and quality of our translated materials.

Key Responsibilities
  • Translation and Editing: Translate a variety of materials, including web content, internal and external communications, presentations, and training manuals, from English to French in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Quality Control: Review and edit translations to ensure consistency with style standards and terminology in use at the Canadian Red Cross.
  • Project Management: Complete assigned projects within established deadlines and priorities, while maintaining a high level of quality and attention to detail.
  • Communication: Report progress and status of work to the Translation management team and provide excellent customer service to internal stakeholders.
  • Research and Development: Research terminology related to assigned projects and support the creation of internal glossaries and terminology databases.
  • On-Call Support: Act as the Translation Services on-call point of contact on a rotational basis during weekends.
Requirements
  • Education: Post-secondary education or diploma in Translation or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in translation from English to French.
  • Language Skills: Excellent verbal and written skills in French and English.
  • Technical Skills: Excellent knowledge and computer proficiency in Microsoft Office software as well as translation memory software (e.g. LogiTerm).
  • Soft Skills: Excellent customer service and attention to detail, strong time management and prioritization skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
