Job Summary

The Senior Manager, Financial Reporting and Controls will be responsible for driving the establishment of strong operational and reporting controls across Finance and serving as a key resource for groups outside Finance as they look to enhance and streamline their approach to managing operational risk.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with Office of Chief Sustainability Officer to further advance CPP Investments' sustainability reporting strategy
  • Partner with Office of Chief Sustainability Officer to implement controls over sustainability data, metrics and 3rd party service providers, including providing guidance on portfolio company sustainability data strategies
  • Working with the ICFR team, incorporate controls over sustainability metrics into the scope of ICFR
  • Partner with groups across Finance to assess control gaps and aid in the design and implementation of incremental financial controls that are built for purpose
  • Lead the development of Risk and Control Matrices and supporting dashboards for Finance
  • Oversee strategic projects or initiatives end-to-end, integrating stakeholder needs, adapting to changes, and resolving issues
  • Partner collaboratively across Finance and other internal stakeholders to resolve cross-functional issues and gaps
  • Manage a team of internal and external staff, providing leadership, regular feedback and mentoring to the team to support a positive, inclusive, and highly effective team culture
  • Actively manage and maintain effective external relationships with co-source/outsource partners, external auditors, and industry peers

Requirements

  • Professional accounting designation from a globally reputed professional body
  • Experience working with International Sustainability Standards Board standards – IFRS S1 and S2
  • Minimum 10+ years of financial reporting experience in a leadership role
  • Committed to continuous improvement with a broad view of building scalable and standardized processes within a robust control environment
  • A track record of working collaboratively with multiple teams to identify and solve issues
  • Demonstrated ability in accomplishing complex objectives through their team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with experience presenting and writing reports to various levels in the organization
  • Exceptional time management and project prioritization skills. Ability to work under time sensitive deadlines and adjust to urgent situations
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and motivate a team
  • Demonstrated ability to succeed in a high performing culture, open to and comfortable with evolving changes and new challenges
  • Experience with Oracle Financials general ledger is an asset
