As a Senior Financial Reporting Manager at Tricon Residential, you will play a key role in leading the team responsible for the Company's residential rental portfolios. Reporting to the Director, Corporate Reporting, you will work collaboratively with various stakeholders across the organization to drive financial reporting excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and mentorship to senior accountants to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Direct and review balance sheet and income statement account reconciliations for income-producing business segments.
  • Oversee the internal monthly reporting process and review monthly reports to ensure compliance with IFRS accounting standards.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements for private investors and review analytical financial reports to assist with month-end variance analysis.
  • Research accounting matters and provide guidance on industry standards to ensure consistency and accuracy in financial reporting.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to ensure results are consistent with plans and offer any variance analysis as required.
  • Support accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close, including oversight of the monthly close calendar.
  • Assist with the annual audit process, including responding to audit inquiries, preparation or review of requested documents, testing of internal controls, and preparation of financial statements.
  • Assist with annual budget process and quarterly reforecast to ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Improve and automate workbooks to enhance accuracy of financial reporting and implement system and process improvements to increase efficiency.
  • Review and approve journal entries to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.

Qualifications:

  • University degree in Finance, Commerce (or relevant field) and CPA certified.
  • 4+ years of manager and/or leadership experience, preferably in a Big 4 firm.
  • Thorough knowledge of IFRS accounting and financial reporting.
  • A self-starter who is able to work independently in a fast-paced and challenging environment.
  • Demonstrates strong attention to detail and adheres to high standards for work quality.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills are mandatory.
  • Self-motivated with strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with other Microsoft Office products.
  • Knowledge of U.S. GAAP would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of Yardi and/or Microsoft Dynamics NAV an asset.
  • Residential real estate experience preferred.
