Job Summary:
We are seeking a qualified Secondary Education Teacher to join our team at the Lambton Kent District School Board. As a Secondary Education Teacher, you will be responsible for teaching and mentoring students in a secondary education setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach and mentor students in a secondary education setting
- Develop and implement lesson plans that meet the needs of students
- Assess student progress and provide feedback
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement curriculum
- Participate in professional development opportunities to improve teaching practices
Requirements:
- Ontario College of Teachers Certificate of Qualification in the respective Division and subject area
- Experience in stated assignment is preferred
- Special Education qualifications are required for ABLE/Resource/Intensive Services positions
- Special Education qualifications are preferred for positions at A.M.S.S.
- French qualifications and fluency in French Immersion is required for French Immersion positions
- Guidance Part 1 is required for Guidance positions
- Co-Op Part 1 is required for Co-Op positions
- Special Education Part 1 is required for Student Success positions
- Special Education Part 1 is required for ALLP positions
- Experience with committee work including Literacy, MDT team, and safe schools is an asset for Student Success positions
- Knowledge of current curriculum directions
- Excellent communication skills in order to effectively interact with students, parents and staff
- Positive interaction as part of the school team
- Consistent and fair classroom management
- Working with youth in a variety of settings
- Working with indigenous young people is an asset
- Electronic report card experience is an asset
- Computer skills are an asset
