- Conduct engineering calculations utilizing empirical formulas from classification regulations and first principles.
- Execute HVAC calculations in accordance with industry standards and recognized marine criteria.
- Prepare mechanical and diagrammatic drawing packages for submission to classification societies.
- Develop propulsion driveline and shafting arrangements, including relevant analyses using recognized software.
- Apply knowledge of marine engineering and systems to ensure the operational functionality of vessel equipment.
- Provide practical technical input for specifications and drawings.
- Conduct engineering studies, technical evaluations, and various analyses.
- Demonstrate developed report writing skills.
- Possess a working knowledge of classification society rules and flag state regulations.
- In addition to performing specific technical tasks within larger projects, the employee may take on the role of Project Manager or serve as Second In Command on smaller projects.
- Be aware of project management aspects, including establishing realistic budgets, deadlines, tracking and analyzing budgets, and coordinating project schedules.
- Mentor and coach junior staff members.
- Collaborate in a team-oriented environment, both within and across offices.
- Engage in functional groups within the company, such as technical and quality teams.
- Communicate effectively and complete work within budget and deadlines.
- A minimum of a recognized Bachelor's degree or equivalent engineering degree in a related field.
- Typically, five to ten years of post-graduation experience in the industry.
- Proficient in primary software programs necessary for position objectives (e.g., MS Office, AutoCAD).
- Overall competency in the discipline is considered Applied, Working, or Developed.
- Professional Engineer designation is strongly preferred, and the ability to obtain this designation is required.
