Job Overview

ADGA Group of Companies is seeking an Electronics Technician to support the electronics workshops we oversee for correctional service institutions in Ontario.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducts both preventative and corrective maintenance in line with established maintenance protocols.
  • Ensures regular calibration of testing equipment according to a defined calibration schedule.
  • Restores electronic systems by replacing defective modules or components, and performs on-site repairs when feasible.
  • Coordinates repairs for modules that cannot be addressed on-site, either at the supplier's facility or with contracted repair services.
  • Documents all maintenance and repair activities within the electronic maintenance information system (MIS).
  • Maintains comprehensive records of all preventive and corrective maintenance actions, including test outcomes.
  • Prepares and submits detailed reports to institutional representatives as outlined in this document. Representatives may request regular meetings to discuss daily operations and any unusual issues.
  • Conducts annual inventory assessments of electronic security systems, major components, and spare parts, reporting any discrepancies to institutional representatives for resolution.
  • Inspects and tests items returned from repair facilities to confirm they are operational and meet required quality standards, including incoming spare parts.
  • Maintains cleanliness in work areas, including sweeping, washing, and vacuuming as necessary.
  • Adheres to all local safety and security regulations as mandated by the institution.
  • Provides telephone support to fellow technicians when requested.
  • Available for on-call support outside of regular hours as per the local on-call schedule.
  • Submits reports to the Regional Supervisor.
  • Actively researches and stays informed about newly installed systems to manage equipment effectively.

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a college degree in a technology-related program or equivalent experience. A combination of education and experience demonstrating the ability to fulfill the role may be considered.
  • Proficient in communications within GP test equipment, commercial and personal computers, and their peripherals, along with experience in MS Office Suite.
  • This position necessitates access to sensitive information requiring a security clearance. All applicants must meet the eligibility criteria for contracting with the Government of Canada.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong communication skills are essential for effectively conveying ideas and problem-solving at client sites.
  • Ability to think conceptually about complex technical situations; seeking advice when uncertainties arise is encouraged.
  • CompTIA A+ and/or Network+ certifications are advantageous. Additional certifications such as Working at Heights (Fall Arrest), First Aid, Confined Space, and WHMIS are also beneficial.
  • A solid understanding of RF, CATV, CCTV, PA/intercom, and automated control systems is a plus.
