Position Overview: Vice President of Clinical Rehabilitation and Transitions

Unity Health Toronto stands as one of Canada's premier Catholic healthcare networks, dedicated to delivering comprehensive care to patients, residents, and clients. With a substantial annual budget exceeding $1 billion and a capacity of 1,100 inpatient beds, our clinical services encompass a wide range of care levels, from primary to long-term care, including rehabilitation and palliative services.

Since 2017, Unity Health Toronto has embarked on a transformative journey to establish a fully integrated health system, uniting three distinguished hospitals across Toronto. This initiative prioritizes the adoption of leading healthcare practices and aims to enhance patient experiences while contributing to the evolution of integrated health systems. In 2022, we successfully executed our clinical integration strategy, aligning our clinical program leadership along specialty pathways, fostering collaboration, and enhancing staff development opportunities.

The Vice President of Clinical Rehabilitation and Transitions will play a pivotal role in this integrated clinical program model, reporting directly to the Executive Vice President of Clinical Programs. This position is integral to the network's executive team, influencing strategic direction and overseeing clinical quality, operational efficiency, and financial health across Unity Health Toronto.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for a portfolio of clinical programs, primarily at the Providence Healthcare site, which includes a 245-bed rehabilitation and complex care facility.
  • Lead the Rehabilitation & Palliative Care Program and the Seniors Health & Ambulatory Care Program, ensuring alignment with network goals.
  • Foster a values-based culture, demonstrating principled leadership and promoting patient-centered care across all clinical programs.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders within Unity Health Toronto and the broader health system to build high-performing teams and enhance service delivery.
  • Drive innovation and change within clinical programs, ensuring adherence to best practices and quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • A post-graduate degree in nursing, healthcare discipline, health policy, or business administration.
  • Extensive leadership experience in clinical program management within complex healthcare environments.
  • Strong understanding of the dynamics within community and academic health centers.
  • Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills, with a proven ability to manage change effectively.
