JOB SUMMARY

The Clinical Nurse Leader in this role operates within a clinical leadership capacity across various nursing domains, including both hospital and community settings. Key responsibilities include the facilitation of nursing policy and procedure formulation, implementation, assessment, and refinement of nursing practice standards, as well as providing comprehensive practice analysis and consultation. Additionally, this role encompasses the delivery of educational programs and in-service training, alongside the execution of nursing quality enhancement initiatives.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current registration with the Nurses' Association of New Brunswick.
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
  • At least 5 years of clinical experience.
  • Advanced knowledge and/or certification in peripheral and central venous access infusion techniques.
  • Capacity to work autonomously and collaboratively to spearhead and implement change.
  • Proven understanding of evidence-based nursing methodologies.
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and interpersonal abilities.
  • Excellent presentation skills with experience in educating adult learners.
  • Demonstrated capability to lead initiatives and establish new policies and standards.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Physical capability to perform required duties, including travel within the Horizon Health Network.
  • Solid work history with a proven record of regular attendance.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Employing an evidence-informed approach, facilitate the nursing policy and procedure development process within the Moncton region, collaborating with other sectors of Horizon Health Network to promote regional consistency.
  • Lead the drafting of regional policies and procedures as designated by the Nursing Standards and Policy Committee, serving as a resource for others involved in policy development.
  • Oversee the implementation and assessment of nursing standards within the designated area.
  • Mediate resolutions between differing viewpoints to align practices with established standards.
  • Communicate the significance of and apply change management strategies to ensure successful integration of nursing standards and policies, evidenced by changes in practice.
  • Act as a standing member of the Horizon Nursing Standards and Policy Committee and participate in other relevant committees as authorized by the Regional Director of Nursing Practice.
  • Advocate for excellence in vascular access through collaboration with healthcare teams and vendors.
  • Design, deliver, and assess educational programs and in-service training for nursing staff regarding standards and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Serve as a consultant for nursing units lacking direct nursing supervision.
  • Identify improvement opportunities by monitoring nursing care trends and develop or facilitate the creation of programs, processes, policies, and standards to address quality deficiencies.

REPORTING STRUCTURE

This position reports directly to the Regional Director of Nursing Practice.
