Position Overview

In the role of Nephrology Clinical Specialist, you will operate under the general guidance of the Health Services Manager, collaborating closely with the healthcare team. Your primary responsibility will be to provide advanced clinical knowledge and support to nursing staff, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care. You will play a pivotal role in coordinating patient management, fostering an interdisciplinary approach to care that aligns with best practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver clinical expertise to nursing personnel, enhancing the overall quality of patient care.
  • Lead initiatives to promote a patient-centered approach within the healthcare team.
  • Engage in continuous professional development and stay updated with the latest nephrology practices.

Experience Requirements

  • A minimum of three years of recent clinical experience in nephrology nursing, with a proven track record in hemodialysis.
  • Experience in Central Dialysis Unit and related renal program areas is advantageous.
  • Prior teaching experience is considered a plus.

Educational Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited Registered Nursing program is mandatory.
  • A Bachelor of Nursing degree is preferred.
  • Completion of the Manitoba Nephrology Nursing course or an equivalent post-basic nephrology program is required.

Licensure and Certification

  • Maintain active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba.
  • Participation in professional nursing associations is preferred.
  • Completion of Canadian Nurses Association Nephrology certification is preferred.
  • CPR training must align with employer policies.

Skills and Competencies

  • Comprehensive knowledge of nursing standards and ethical guidelines.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to prioritize and delegate patient care effectively.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Capability to adapt to dynamic and demanding environments.

Physical Demands

  • Moderate to heavy physical effort is required in this role.
  • Flexibility in work hours, including evenings and weekends, may be necessary.
