Job Overview

The New Brunswick Teachers' Federation is seeking a highly skilled Labour Relations Officer to join their team. As a key member of the Federation, this individual will provide expert advice and guidance to members on labour relations matters, ensuring fair treatment and adherence to established policies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to members on labour relations matters, including grievance procedures and collective bargaining.
  • Represent members throughout the disciplinary process, ensuring fair treatment and adherence to established policies.
  • Conduct research on labour law and serve as the primary liaison with the Federation's legal counsel.
  • Develop and deliver professional development sessions and in-service training on labour relations topics.
  • Attend and contribute to all meetings of the Federation's Executive Committee and the Board of Directors.
Required Qualifications:
  • Must be a member of the bar in a Canadian jurisdiction.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and experience in labour relations within a unionized environment.
Preferred Skills and Attributes:
  • Strong organizational abilities with a high degree of autonomy.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with a team, coupled with strong leadership skills.
  • Excellent facilitation, conflict resolution, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in both official languages (English and French), with strong oral and written communication skills.
Compensation and Benefits:
  • Commensurate with experience (range: $128,163 – $151,395).
  • Competitive package including paid leave, group insurance, pension plan, and retirement allowance.
Additional Information:
  • The position requires the ability to travel within New Brunswick.
