Veterinary Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Veterinary Technician to join our team at the Ontario Veterinary College Health Sciences Centre. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and support to our clients and their animals.
Key Responsibilities- Provide high-quality patient care and support to clients and their animals
- Work collaboratively with veterinarians, students, and other staff members to ensure seamless patient care
- Participate in the handling and restraint of large animals, including horses, cows, goats, pigs, sheep, llamas, and alpacas
- Perform a wide range of treatment procedures and techniques, including IV catheter placement, blood collection, and handling of narcotics
- Set up, clean, and maintain endoscopy equipment
- Complete hourly treatments, medications, and interact with patients, including special feeding instructions
- Walk animals, handle patients on IV fluids and CRI's, and work with critical cases
- Provide administrative support, including billing and organizing medical records, and assist with the admission and discharge of client animals
- Stock areas with appropriate supplies and maintain equipment logs
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to safety regulations at all times
- 2-year College Diploma in Veterinary Technology
- Successful completion of an accredited Veterinary Technician program recognized by the Ontario Association of Veterinary Technicians (OAVT)
- Full member in good standing with the Ontario Association of Veterinary Technicians (OAVT)
- Successful completion of the Veterinary Technician Examination (VTNE) and the OAVT mandatory ethics exam
- Experience with and competence in the handling and restraint of large animals and in performing a wide range of treatment procedures and techniques
- Demonstrated proficiency in customer service, excellent communication and organizational skills, particularly with respect to dealing with clients
- Familiarity with common computer software, including Hospital Management Information System software
