Job Summary
Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team in providing high-quality orthopedic care to our patients. As a Licensed Practical Nurse, you will work collaboratively with our interdisciplinary care team to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate client care, ensuring the best possible outcomes for our patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Work independently and collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary care team to provide full scope of practical nursing functions for clients with predictable outcomes within a designated area of specialty.
- Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and document client care, providing support to clients and their families.
- Work collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary care team and under general supervision, support the Registered Nurse in caring for clients with unpredictable outcomes or where the acuity or complexity of care requires an advanced level of knowledge and skill beyond the scope of practice for Licensed Practical Nurses.
- Follow decision support tools, cast fractures of a bone with orders, and provide care when a medical practitioner or nurse practitioner is available.
- Maintain and advance clinical competence pursuant to the standards of practice of BCCNM for Licensed Practical Nurses.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- Graduation from a recognized program for Licensed Practical Nurses, plus successful completion of recognized, formal post-basic education in advanced orthopedics for LPNs.
- Current practicing registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- Ability to work pursuant to the standards of practice under the BCCNM.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal with others effectively.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Ability to organize work.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
