Role Summary

The City of Nanaimo is seeking a permanent full-time Assistant Manager, Procurement. Reporting directly to the Manager of Supply Chain Management, the Assistant Manager will oversee the daily operations of the Procurement Section. This role includes managing assigned purchasing activities and ensuring adherence to current Trade Agreements, City Procurement Policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and established guidelines. The Assistant Manager will provide expert advice and guidance to staff on various procurement issues, including complex and significant purchases. Additionally, the incumbent will be responsible for upholding a standard of procurement excellence. The position requires considerable independent judgment, with only significant matters or policy issues being escalated to the Manager of Supply Chain Management.

Qualifications

Applicants must possess a Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management or a related field, along with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in various procurement practices, including demonstrated experience in municipal government and supervisory roles. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Membership in or eligibility for membership in a recognized supply chain association is required. A valid Class 5 BC Driver's License is also necessary.



Compensation and Benefits

This is a permanent full-time exempt position, offering 35 hours of work per week, with a salary range of $108,000 to $115,466.45, in addition to a competitive benefits package.
