About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Corporate Legal Counsel to join our dynamic legal team. As a trusted business partner, you will provide timely, high-quality, and practical legal support to our national and regional business teams in Canada and the U.S.

Key Responsibilities
  • Acting as a trusted business partner, you will gain exposure to all facets of being an in-house lawyer for a fast-growing publicly listed company.
  • Provide timely, strategic, and practical advice to business divisions related to corporate commercial and contract matters, mergers and acquisitions, financing activities, securities law, regulatory controls, and management of litigation.
  • Proactively anticipate and assess potential benefits and risks associated with business opportunities and operations.
  • Implement processes, controls, and new resources/tools to ensure business operators and decision makers are better equipped to assess and manage legal risks and ensure compliance with applicable laws/regulations.
Requirements
  • Member of the Law Society of Upper Canada (Ontario) and in good standing.
  • Both junior and senior positions are being considered for hire. A minimum 2 to 10 years of post-call of corporate law experience.
  • Strong technical legal, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to understand complex issues of files and find pragmatic and creative solutions to issues while exercising good business judgment.
  • Experience with M&A transactions, debt financing, and Canadian or US public company reporting is an asset.
  • Superior written and oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
