About the Role

As a Payroll Specialist, you will play a vital role in ensuring accurate and timely compensation for our diverse workforce. You will work closely with various departments to process payroll transactions, resolve complex payroll issues, and provide expert guidance on payroll-related matters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of the payroll cycle, including biweekly, monthly, and weekly pay runs.
  • Resolve intricate payroll inquiries and discrepancies, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation (ESA, CRA, Service Canada).
  • Provide comprehensive support to divisions regarding payroll transactions, leaves processes, and other related procedures.
  • Process complex payroll cases, including reclassifications, retro adjustments, and pay area changes.
  • Conduct end-user testing for HRIS-related projects, contributing to system improvements.

Required Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Payroll Administration is preferred. National Payroll Institute Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification is mandatory.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in payroll administration, preferably within a large, decentralized organization with multiple bargaining units.
  • Proficiency in SAP HRIS and SAP Payroll systems is essential.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are crucial for effective collaboration with various stakeholders.
