About the Role

TalentMinded is seeking a highly skilled Payroll Specialist to join our team. As a Payroll Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of payroll transactions, as well as contributing to the overall efficiency and compliance of the payroll function.

Key Responsibilities
  • Payroll Processing: Assist in processing the end-to-end payroll, including entering data, performing calculations and reconciliations, verifying time and attendance records, making salary adjustments, calculating and applying bonuses and commissions, processing payments, and completing other payroll-related inputs.
  • Collaboration: Work with the People team to maintain accurate employee data and ensure its confidentiality and security. Prioritize and respond to employee inquiries related to payroll, taxes, and deductions in a courteous and timely manner.
  • Reporting: Generate regular and ad hoc payroll reports, review accuracy, and identify any discrepancies. Analyze payroll data to identify patterns, trends, and potential issues, providing insights and recommendations to management.
  • Compliance: Stay up to date with federal, provincial, state, and labor legislation, ensuring payroll practices and processes are compliant. Prepare and submit payroll tax reports and filings to government agencies quarterly and annually.
Requirements
  • Experience: You have experience processing Canadian and US payrolls and entering and analyzing data. You understand payroll laws, tax regulations, and labor legislation in Canada and the US. Or you may have exclusively worked with one country or the other and can quickly come up to speed.
  • Drive: You thrive in an independent role and can work towards multiple deadlines throughout the payroll cycle. You are detail-oriented and highly analytical. You take ownership of your work and are driven to succeed in a demanding, high-growth, fast-paced environment.
  • Interpersonal Skills: You have professional communication skills. You take pride in being part of a team with a positive reputation and prioritize internal customer service, building trust and collaboration within and across teams.
