Position Overview

Sewak's Independent is seeking a dedicated Meat Specialist to join our team. This role involves a variety of tasks related to meat preparation and customer service within our supermarket's meat department.

Qualifications
  • Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: 7 months to less than 1 year in a similar role.
Work Environment

The position is set in a fast-paced environment with exposure to odours and cold/refrigerated conditions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and clean meats for processing.
  • Cut carcasses, sides, and quarters into standard cuts.
  • Wrap and package prepared meats for sale.
  • Weigh and price meat products.
  • Assist customers with their meat selections.
  • Supervise and train other meat cutters and staff.
  • Prepare special orders and displays of meats, poultry, and fish.
Equipment Proficiency

Experience with the following equipment is essential:

  • Band saw
  • Manual cutting utensils
  • Power grinder
  • Sausage machine
  • Slicing machine
Physical Requirements

The role requires:

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Standing for extended periods and handling heavy loads.
  • Strong attention to detail and hand-eye coordination.
