About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Meat Cutter and Retail Specialist to join our team at Sewak's Independent. As a key member of our meat department, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service and ensuring that our customers receive the highest quality meat products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cutting and Preparing Meat: Clean and prepare meats to prepare for processing or cutting, cut carcasses, sides, and quarters, and cut, trim, and prepare standard cuts of meat.
  • Meat Sales and Service: Wrap and package prepared meats, remove bones from meat, weigh meats for sale, and sell meats to customers.
  • Meat Department Operations: Clean and maintain the meat department, including equipment and machinery, and supervise other butchers, meat cutters, and fishmongers.
  • Special Orders and Displays: Prepare special orders, make special sausages, and prepare special displays of meats, poultry, and fish products.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate and 7 months to less than 1 year of experience, or equivalent experience.
  • Work Environment: Work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines, standing for extended periods, and handling heavy loads.
  • Physical and Mental Demands: Physically demanding, with attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure.
