About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Meat Cutter and Retail Specialist to join our team at Sewak's Independent. As a key member of our meat department, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service and ensuring that our customers receive the highest quality meat products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cutting and Preparing Meat: Clean and prepare meats to prepare for processing or cutting, cut carcasses, sides and quarters, and cut, trim and prepare standard cuts of meat.
  • Meat Display and Sales: Wrap and package prepared meats, remove bones from meat, weigh meats for sale, and sell meats to customers.
  • Equipment Operation: Operate band saws, manual cutting utensils, power grinders, sausage machines, and slicing machines.
  • Team Collaboration: Supervise other butchers, meat cutters and fishmongers, train meat cutters, and work collaboratively with the team to achieve sales goals.
Requirements
  • Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience.
  • Work Environment: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines, standing for extended periods, and handling heavy loads.
  • Language: Fluency in English.
