Technical Printer Repair Specialist

Position: Repair & Printer Technician
Location: Vancouver or Calgary
Overview:
The Repair & Printer Technician is accountable for the repair, installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and enhancement of data collection devices, including mobile computers, printers, and other Automatic Identification and Data Capture (AIDC) technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct repairs and configurations of AIDC and label printer equipment at the local repair facility.
- Execute onsite printer installations, repairs, and maintenance tasks.
- Troubleshoot and configure AIDC equipment in the field.
- Perform hardware installations and configure printers and handheld devices.
- Assess repair requests, determine the level of service required, and decide whether to proceed with repairs or escalate to supervisors or suppliers.
- Provide assistance to users with service and support inquiries, along with technical sales support.
- Assist clients through various channels, including remote sessions or onsite visits, to resolve technical issues.
- Be prepared to work from elevated platforms, with training provided.
- Maintain records of work performed and expenses in the online portal.
- Engage in ongoing technical and sales training from various OEM programs, with costs covered for mandatory certifications.
- Travel within Canada for work-related tasks, larger projects, or training opportunities.
Relationship Management:
- Build and nurture relationships with customers to ensure effective support.
- Collaborate with the sales department to address OCR Canada customer needs.
- Work alongside fellow technicians to share knowledge on diverse equipment types.
Desired Skills and Attributes:
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Proficient computer skills, including MS Office.
- Basic understanding of networking concepts.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Comfortable working in high-pressure environments.
- Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
- Professional telephone etiquette.
- Commitment to customer satisfaction and loyalty.
- Ability to work independently in a dynamic, team-oriented setting.
- Fluency in English is required; bilingualism in Quebec French is an asset.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Maintain cleanliness in the technical service area.
- Manage inventory necessary for completing assigned tasks.
- Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
- Demonstrate resilience in handling stress.
- Hold a valid driver's license with a satisfactory record.
- Physically capable of handling equipment and performing onsite installations as needed.
Qualifications:
- Minimum technical degree or equivalent, or completion of two years in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
- 1-3 years of technical repair and support experience.
- 1-2 years of experience in general computer installation, maintenance, and repair.
- 1-2 years of experience with Wi-Fi technologies.
- 1-2 years of experience with barcoding, mobility, and mobile managed devices.
