Job Summary

VON Canada is seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team in Nova Scotia. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide medical care to children, youth, adults, and seniors in their homes and other settings across the province.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide medical care to clients in their homes and other settings, including diabetes management, dialysis, medication management, palliative care, phlebotomy, and wound care.
  • Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement care plans that meet the unique needs of each client.
  • Conduct thorough assessments of clients' physical and emotional needs, and develop plans to address these needs.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians, and provide education to clients and their families on medication management and other health-related topics.
  • Document client interactions and care provided in a timely and accurate manner.

Requirements

  • Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the province of Nova Scotia.
  • Experience in community health an asset.
  • A valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • A current and original copy of a satisfactory Criminal Records Check, and a Vulnerable Sector Search and/or a Child Abuse Registry Check may be required.
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

This role requires a detail-oriented approach in a dynamic environment, with physical activity including lifting, carrying (using proper techniques), bending, reaching, kneeling, and other movements that emphasize good body mechanics. Individuals in the role are required to walk, sit, stand, and climb stairs throughout the day, with some tasks requiring fine hand movements.
