About This Opportunity

Nova Scotia Health and IWK Health are seeking a skilled Family Medicine Physician to join our team in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. Our medical home is a team-based, patient-centered practice that offers urgent care access and supports the Dalhousie Family Medicine Residency program.

As a Primary Care Specialist, you will be responsible for delivering comprehensive primary health care services to patients of all ages and stages of health or illness. You will work collaboratively with other healthcare providers to provide after-hours access and emergency coverage when required.

Our practice is committed to providing high-quality patient care and is aligned with the Patient Medical Home model of primary care. You will have the opportunity to participate in teaching with Family Medicine residents and medical students through Dalhousie University.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive primary health care services to patients of all ages and stages of health or illness
  • Be accountable for appropriate workload and practice
  • Support the Dalhousie Family Medicine Residency program
  • Provide improved access of care by participating in urgent care rotation
  • Work with other providers to provide after-hours access and emergency coverage when required
  • Continuum of patient care with healthcare providers within your practice and/or community
  • Provide care and coordination of community-based care, secondary and tertiary level healthcare
  • Build to capacity within the first two years
  • Operate within the Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of Nova Scotia Health Authority
  • Work in collaboration with other team members in the practice to best suit the community's health needs
  • Participate in quality improvement and evaluation activities
  • Utilize an electronic medical record (EMR) and record all relevant patient details in a provincially approved EMR which is accessible to all collaborating team members

Expected Hours

  • Full-time or part-time

Qualifications

  • Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS)
  • Eligible for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC)
  • Membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)
