Role of the Office of the Registrar

The Office of the Registrar plays a crucial role in supporting students' academic journeys while aligning with Western's strategic goals. We deliver a comprehensive range of integrated services in a professional setting, ensuring the integrity and confidentiality of student information throughout their academic lifecycle.

Financial Aid Team Responsibilities

The Financial Aid team within the Office of the Registrar is committed to ensuring that students receive the necessary information and guidance to access various forms of financial assistance, including government loans, bank loans, bursaries, and work-study opportunities.

We offer budgeting advice and personalized counseling on all aspects of government loan programs and Western's financial aid offerings.

Key Duties
  • Serve as the primary contact for inquiries related to financial aid for both prospective and current students, providing essential policy and procedural information.
  • Participate in the recruitment, training, and coordination of daily activities for up to 15 Work Study students and reception staff within the Financial Services Department.
  • Ensure compliance with financial aid program standards, offering suggestions and contributing to the continuous improvement of processes and procedures to enhance service quality.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of policies and procedures governing the administration of financial aid programs.
  • Create, maintain, and update specialized departmental databases, generating data and reports for leadership while providing support to database users as needed.
  • Act as a backup for various financial aid processes, ensuring smooth operations.
Qualifications

Applicants should possess an undergraduate degree in a relevant field and have a minimum of two years of experience in providing financial and administrative support, preferably in an academic setting. Previous experience in a financial aid environment is highly desirable.

Strong communication skills are essential for effectively interpreting and conveying university guidelines, policies, and practices to key stakeholders.

Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office is required for preparing communications and managing data within spreadsheets and databases.
