Your Role:

The Emergency Department at Alberta Health Services is a significant urban facility that encompasses a multidisciplinary team dedicated to delivering care to patients with diverse needs. As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in this high-energy setting, you will be a vital contributor to the Emergency Department team, providing care to patients across a spectrum of acuity levels.

Key Responsibilities:

In your capacity as an LPN, you will engage in the assessment, planning, execution, and evaluation of patient care. This role demands a proactive approach in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. You will be expected to exhibit exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, along with strong prioritization and assessment capabilities. Flexibility in managing a busy workload is essential.

Accountability:

You will be accountable for your professional practice, ensuring compliance with legislative standards and the guidelines established by the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA).

Qualifications:

- Completion of an accredited practical nursing program.
- Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA).
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Preferred Skills:

- Previous experience in an emergency or urgent care setting.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a team and accept guidance as needed.
- Strong critical thinking and clinical judgment skills, including problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Professional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Effective time management, prioritization, and organizational capabilities.
- Understanding of Patient and Family Centered Care principles.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development through Annual Continuing Education.
