Site Reliability Engineer I (Platform Engineering), Toronto, ON

In the role of Site Reliability Engineer I (Platform Engineering), you will play a key part in the design, upkeep, and enhancement of tools that ensure the reliability of our applications. As a member of the Loblaw Technology Container Platform Team, you will work alongside various engineering teams across different sectors. Your main objective will be to facilitate the adoption of cloud-native solutions and develop tools that enable us to create more robust and resilient systems.

Key Responsibilities:


• Architect and develop cloud-native solutions utilizing services such as Kubernetes, CloudSql, and Pub/Sub on Google Cloud Platform.


• Identify and address shortcomings in existing frameworks, tools, and processes, proposing innovative solutions to minimize waste and drive continuous improvement.


• Construct and manage infrastructure as code, uphold our high-quality codebase through code reviews, and collaborate closely with development teams to automate CI/CD pipelines, thereby streamlining operational requirements.


• Diagnose and resolve issues related to systems, coding, and infrastructure, providing creative solutions for remediation.

Qualifications:


• You are primarily a developer with an understanding of operations or have a desire to engage in operational tasks.


• A strong passion for troubleshooting technical challenges and automating solutions to minimize manual effort.


• Motivated by the prospect of working with both development and SRE perspectives (i.e., software and infrastructure).


• Quick to learn new technologies - while you may not know everything, you can articulate your knowledge clearly and identify areas for growth.
