Job Summary

We're seeking a highly skilled Backend Software Engineer to join our team. As a Golang expert, you'll play a crucial role in shaping the experience of developers using our SDKs, which power over 80% of the payment volume at Stripe.

Key Responsibilities
  • Represent the needs of the Golang community and ensure our SDKs are idiomatic.
  • Improve our code generation framework using Node.js expertise and work towards open-sourcing it to benefit the community.
  • Collaborate with various Stripe teams to release APIs in the SDKs and optimize the release process.
  • Streamline the API authoring process at Stripe.
  • Support users on our open-source GitHub repositories for our SDKs.
  • Add support for new language features in SDKs.
  • Lead Stripe's API design process, providing guidance to product teams.
  • Influence the team's strategy and roadmap through feedback-driven proposals.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience as a software engineer.
  • 2+ years of experience in Golang.
  • 1+ years of experience in Node.js.
  • An interest in working with multiple programming languages.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience in developer tooling.
  • Experience in one or more programming languages among.NET, Java, Python, PHP, and Ruby.
  • Experience building libraries and/or SDKs.
  • Knowledge of Open API spec and protobuf.

This role is available in an office or remote location, with a balance between in-person collaboration and flexibility. The annual US base salary range for this role is $163,100 - $244,700, with additional benefits including equity, company bonus, and wellness stipends.
