Backend Software Engineer

At Reddit, we're building a platform that enables communities to thrive. As a Backend Engineer on our Ads Data Platform team, you'll play a critical role in shaping the future of our data infrastructure.
About the RoleWe're seeking a highly skilled Backend Engineer to join our team. You'll be responsible for building and maintaining large-scale data infrastructure applications, refining our data infrastructure technologies, and owning the data pipelines that surface billions of daily events to all teams.
Key Responsibilities- Design and implement tooling for access management, monitoring, and anomaly detection.
- Own data quality for crucial systems at Reddit, defining and managing SLAs for datasets that support production services.
- Perform code reviews that improve software engineering quality.
- Collaborate with a team of top-quality engineers to build and maintain data infrastructure tools.
- 3+ years of full-time backend software engineering experience in a highly scalable computing environment.
- Experience in backend development, with a passion for learning and adapting to new technologies.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders independently.
- A commitment to delivering high-quality solutions that meet our users' needs, while prioritizing their privacy and security.
- Experience using tools such as Kafka, Kinesis, Flink, or Spark, and a good understanding of the underlying infrastructure setup and upkeep.
- Prior experience in the digital ads space, with a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities in these areas.
- Experience with agile development methodologies and version control systems like Git.
