About the Role

The Internal Medicine Department at St. Martha's Regional Hospital is seeking a dedicated full-time Respirologist to enhance our team in the picturesque region of Antigonish, Nova Scotia.

This department encompasses various subspecialties, including General Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Hematology, Endocrinology, Respirology, and Intensive Care. The hospital utilizes MedAccess as its electronic medical record system. St. Martha's Regional Hospital provides advanced services such as echocardiography, exercise stress testing with nuclear imaging, pacemaker procedures, and a comprehensive Sleep Lab. Additionally, there are two full-time Respiratory Therapists available to support the medical staff.

Compensation is structured on a fee-for-service basis, complemented by flexible vacation options. Specialists also benefit from call stipends and additional incentives as outlined in the Master Agreement of Nova Scotia.

Our institution is affiliated with Dalhousie Medical School, offering physicians the opportunity to apply for faculty positions to mentor residents and learners. There are also prospects to engage with the upcoming Medical Campus on Cape Breton Island.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will provide inpatient and outpatient consultative services for the Eastern Zone. St. Martha's Regional Hospital is a 90-bed acute care facility located in Antigonish. The selected physician will collaborate with a collegial group of internal medicine professionals who practice both General Internal Medicine and their respective subspecialties. Participation in the Internal Medicine call schedule, inpatient/ED subspecialty consultations, and coverage of the medical/surgical/cardiac Intensive Care Unit is expected.

Work Schedule

This is a full-time position with outpatient clinic hours and a call schedule of 1:6.

Qualifications

Applicants must be a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or eligible to take the Fellowship Exam in Internal Medicine. Candidates must also hold or be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia.

Membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) is required.
