Data Governance Expert

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Data Governance Specialist to join our team at PBS Systems Inc.
The Data Governance Specialist will play a key role in developing and implementing data governance frameworks, policies, and procedures to ensure the integrity, availability, and security of our organization's data assets.
Key Responsibilities- Data Governance Strategy Development: Develop and implement data governance strategies, policies, and procedures to ensure the effective management of organizational data assets.
- Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to define data governance requirements and standards, including data classification, data quality, data privacy, and data security.
- Data Governance Frameworks and Processes: Establish data governance frameworks and processes to monitor and enforce compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and industry best practices.
- Data Quality Assessment and Improvement: Design and implement data quality assessment frameworks and metrics to measure and improve the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of data.
- Data Stewardship and Resolution: Partner with data stewards and data owners to identify and resolve data quality issues, data anomalies, and data inconsistencies.
- Compliance and Risk Management: Conduct regular audits and assessments of data governance processes and controls to identify areas for improvement and mitigate risks.
- Training and Awareness: Provide guidance and support to business units in the development and implementation of data governance policies, procedures, and controls.
- Inventory and Reduction Strategy: Develop an inventory of the data within the organization and devise a reduction strategy.
- Retention Policy Management: Manage and enforce retention policies.
- Industry Trends and Regulatory Compliance: Stay informed about emerging trends, technologies, and regulatory requirements in data governance and data management disciplines.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field.
- 2-3 years' experience in data governance, data management, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of data governance principles, data quality management, and data privacy regulations.
- Experience with data governance frameworks and tools.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements such as GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, and SOX.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Superior relationship building skills; ability to collaborate effectively with senior level staff.
- Ability to actively listen and establish trust in senior level staff.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CDMP, DGSP, CIMP) are an asset.
