Job Title: Locomotive Engineer

VIA Rail Canada Inc. is seeking a qualified Locomotive Engineer to join our team in Thompson, Manitoba.

Job Summary:

The Locomotive Engineer is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of VIA Rail passengers and crew, ensuring timely arrival and departure of trains while maintaining a high level of customer service.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate locomotives in accordance with Canadian Rail Operating Rules (CROR) and VIA Rail's safety policies
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and procedures
  • Communicate effectively with crew members and dispatchers
  • Monitor and report any safety concerns or issues
  • Participate in training and development programs to enhance skills and knowledge
Requirements:
  • Qualified Locomotive Engineer with Canadian Rail Operating Rules (CROR) certification
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing situations
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
