About the Role

VIA Rail Canada Inc. is seeking a qualified Locomotive Engineer to join our team in Thompson, Manitoba. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of our passengers and crew.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate locomotives in accordance with Canadian Rail Operating Rules (CROR) and VIA Rail's safety protocols
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and guidelines
  • Collaborate with other team members to achieve operational goals
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to maintain and enhance skills

Requirements

  • Qualified Locomotive Engineer with Canadian Rail Operating Rules (CROR) certification
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing circumstances
  • Strong technical and mechanical aptitudes
  • Physical ability to perform the demands of the role
